Week end overview

With this Week end Adventure Body Rafting Alcantara will takes you among the forests of mount Etna to discover the beauty of the  largest active volcano in Europe and one of the most fascinating in the world. With Us you will discover the less beathen paths of this amazing volcano between white birch, secular beech trees, ancient lava flows that create lunar landscapes and lava  caves that can be visited with Helmets and torches. If you choose this tour you will stay in a beautiful Chalet "Clan dei Ragazzi" surrounded by woods, included in the price there is a comfortable accommodation, dinner, breakfast and the choice of one or two Adventure Activities. If you have chosen two activities you do not have to practice them both on the same day, you can take advantage of the service you have paid for within 30 days of the purchase.

Activities overview

The North flanks of the Volcano is where you will spend this fantastic weekend. The north side is without doubt the most fascinating one, both botanically and scenically. The view of the Mediterranean Sea and the Nebrodi and Peloritani mountain ranges is simply unique and walking between the white bark birch trees that sink their roots into the black volcanic terrain will surprise any one. The trekking maximum height we will reach may vary according to your physical condition but will never be below 1750 meters, the walking time is never less than two and a half hours and does not exceed three hours, the walk can go from a minimum of four kilometers to a maximum of six and the group will never exceed the twelve units. The body Rafting will take place in the stunning Alcantara gorge inside the Botanical park along the Alcantara River not far the tourist hub of Taormina e Giardini Naxos.

Accomodation Etna

accomodation details

The chalet Clan dei Ragazzi is located on the north side of Mount Etna at 1500 meters above sea level. The rooms are equipped with a private bathroom. The property has a bar, a restaurant, a large car park and an outdoor area where you can relax immersed in nature. The Clan dei Ragazzi can be reached from the panoramic Mare neve road from the village of Linguaglossa, but if you come from the A19 motorway you have to exit at the junction of Fiumefreddo and continue towards Linguaglossa Etna Nord. From the junction of Fiumefreddo the Chalet is about 45 minutes away.


Day 1

Welcome to the Clan dei Ragazzi. After check in you can sit in the pine forest and immerse yourself in nature and enjoy your welcome drink. In the evening, a delicious welcome dinner will be served at the hotel restaurant with a starter, a first course and a main course. During the day a Body Rafting Alcantara representative will explain the details of the weekend and you will be able to get answers to any questions about activities, logistics or anything else you want to know.

Check in: Upon your arrival a welcome drink of your choice will be served. After check in a meeting with a staff member  will take place, no later than 13:00 p.m. Rest of the day off

Dinner: Will be served between 7:30 and 8.30 in the restaurant inside the chalet.

Day 2

After breakfast we will start our trekking along the paths of the Etna park between beech, pine, crater, and lava caves. The route may vary from a minimum of 4 k.m. to a maximum of 6 km, which we should be able to complete within 3 hours, before going back for lunch we will visit a lava cave. Lunch will be served in the chalet where you stayed the previous evening and for an additional €10  Bruschetta, pasta and a drink of your choice can be purchased.

Pick up: 10:00 am a guide will come and meet at the restaurant of the Chalet. Beginning Trekking: Around 10:15 am, We will start the walk between woods and craters.Before lunchtime wearing an helmet and using a torch we will visit a lava cave.

Lunch. At 13:30 we will stop at the Clan to have lunch together and say goodbye.

Second Activity: After lunch you can go to the Alcantara Gorges and discover the river landscape with an adventurous body Rafting, if you wish you can postpone the body Rafting to another day of your choice.

Important Notes

Sport Insurance

We are  aware that during any activities, there is the risk of accident or injuries that is why all our participants are covered from day one with a sport insurance, included in the Week end adventure price.

Minimum Age

The minimum age to take part in the Multi-Sports week is 10.

Physical Rating

This multi Sports trip requires a medium level of fitness and health for the activities. Some of the walks involve steep hills and steps that you will need to be able to climb. Walking times vary between two and three hours but the rewards are worth every step. There are some more difficult sections of theBody Rafting. During the hotter months, the activities can be more demanding and you have to deal with temperature around 30 degree Celsius.

Volcano Activity

Please note that Etna is an active volcano last eruption was in December 2018. This means that if you are lucky you can have a once in a life time opportunity to see the eruption from a close distance while being safe, but other times, even though there are remote possibility, the trekking trail due to the volcano activity can be closed for days or weeks. If such a case should arise your leader, will update you and offer alternative walks

The number of participants my vary between 2 and 12.

What to bring

Wet weather gear, sunscreen, good walking boots / shoes and sun hat, insect repellent, a warm sweater or fleece. This packing List should be used as a guide only and is not intended to be a complete packing list.

Technical equipment

The nature of the terrain and the mild mediterranean climate does not required special equipment but in those activities such as Body Rafting the participants will be provided with all the gear necessary for the activity, while to go down inside a lava cave on mountain Etna helmet and head light will be available. Walking sticks will be handed out before the trekking

Dietary requirements

Provided we are advised in advance of your departure, we are able to cater for vegetarian diets and can assist with medically recommended diets (allergies and intolerances). Please ensure you discuss your requirements with us well in advance (at least 5 days prior to your trip) to determine whether we can cater to such dietary requirements on your chosen trip. We strongly encourage that travellers with life-threatening or severe allergies take all necessary medical precautions to prepare for the possibility of exposure. Passengers must travel with all necessary medications for food allergies and be capable of self-administering these medications.


Sicilian summers are hot. From beginning of June to September, highs of 30 degrees Celsius are common but record temperature above 40 degrees have been recorded. Spring and autumn are the nicest times of year, specifically, April to early June and September to October are the most pleasant months to do physical activity. Average daytime highs are around 20-25 degrees Celsius.
